The Return of Trixie

Back and ready to spend more time with this blog!
Funny how many times I have read other blogs and they begin with "sorry I haven't blogged for a while".
Life gets in the way for all of us so I won't say that I'm sorry.........I'll just say that I am glad to be back!

Will be adding new items to our etsy store soon. Check back for the various projects I will be completing.

French Flea Market

A couple of weeks ago I visited a few of my favorite shops in Noblesville. Shout out to Peggy at A Corner Cottage which is my absolute fav!
Anyway I noticed a flyer about a French Flea Market in Tipton Indiana. What? This was too exciting! I've been to the famous Paris flea markets and had a wonderfully overwhelming experience. So I couldn't wait to see what it would be like.
Friday my Hub and I took the hour trip to Tipton and had a really nice time. The French Flea Market was set up in the parking lot of Horton's Hardware but alot of planning and hard work went into this event. It was evident in the curb appeal, booth displays, french music playing, etc...There were about a dozen booths. I believe the participating vendors were by invitation only and they all had lovely and interesting things. (except one booth that was a direct sales product)

My information may be a little sketchy but I think the owners of Horton's Hardware started the French Flea Market last year. Apparently the wonderful lady has a booth at Logan Street Mall in Noblesville but keeps an ongoing and ever growing store within the hardware store and what I saw was gorgeous! Lots of coverless books, pendants, flowers, frames, the list goes on and on.
So if you are ever near Tipton Indiana I encourage you to stop by and see her incredible shop.

Under Control For Now

It took several days and more than a couple of trips to GW but the room is functional again - at least for now. It feels so much better too!

Do I Have a Problem?

You are not seeing double. One photo is from the junk stacked in my garage for a sale. The other photo shows my TREASURES in my dining room waiting for inspiration. Hard to tell the difference - isn't it?
Let me tell you, it was worse two weeks ago. I had just started my summer vacation when I got hooked watching "Hoarders". A slow scan of the rooms in my home had me running for my pricing stickers and boxes. NO, I do not save empty pizza boxes (at least not yet) but I do save empty toilet paper rolls. I do not think I am quite ready for an episode to be filmed at my house but is frightening to think that my love for junking, collecting, or whatever I call it has come to this. And did I mention I have more in a rented storage unit? Argh!!! I really DO need help!

A Piece of My Past

I've had this hand crocheted flower for many years. It is a flower my mother made back in the 50's or 60's before she passed away. I was just nine years old when we lost her. I have very few things to connect to her memory so when I ran across it in a drawer the other day I decided it needed a bit more respect than to just be hidden away. Of course I forgot to photo the framed mini mirror before I started but I'm sure you get the idea. I painted the wood frame with an antique white, cut scrapbook paper to cover the mirror and then used pop dots to adhere the crocheted flower inside. I'm quite happy with the results.

Coaster Inspiration

Another SNOW DAY here in Indiana. I was determined not to spend my whole free day reading blogs, bookmarking, making notes of supplies to buy, etc... I LOVE all the great ideas people share but believe me when I say I already have an ABUNDANCE of supplies so I really need to DO SOMETHING!
Anyway, today I am sharing a very, very simple idea with you. Hang with me...this is my first time trying this.

I've had this box of coasters for a while (a long while)
and today I decided to take them out of the box
and put SOMETHING in the little picture slot.

I used the fake photo in the coaster as my template, cut scrap cardstock, and added a laser cut letter sticker.
First I did the letter D for our last name.

Then I decided it would be nice to spell a word.

The possibilities are endless. It is quick, easy, and makes a nice set when done.

SNOW is a Four Letter Word!

February....just when we begin to dream of spring...then the snow comes. We are in the middle of the second big storm in two weeks. While I hide out in the warm house my hubby braves the frigid temps with his four wheeler and blade to clear out our driveway and several of our neighbors.
Let me close my eyes and picture what is promised to come....green grass, new blooms, blue skies... I'm sure we can make it to spring.

Help If You Can

Some sellers on Etsy have created a shop for vendors to donate shop items to be sold to raise money to help the people of Haiti get medical attention. All proceeds, minus the listing fee and payment fee, goes to DoctorsWithoutBorders. My daughter and I donated a couple of items today and one has already sold. Please take a look at this special site and help if you can. www.HeartsForHaiti.etsy.com

Just found out that my Damascene Flower Pin is in a very nice treasury by unflappableproducts called Pearl Jammin! Lovin' it!

Back in Business!

Long time - no blog!
Thank goodness Santa was so good to me and gave me a new camera. My blogging stopped when my camera stopped but now I have a new one and I have started learning how it operates so new pics will soon be added.
Don't think I've been wasting my time though. Oh no, my daughter and I have been adding to our Etsy shop, Le Pink Chandelier and I have been visiting many blogs for inspiration. Just Something I Made continues to rate top marks with me! She's awesome!

I'm off for now, but I resolve to blog more in 2010!

What a Find!

Sometimes great things turn up in unexpectated places. I stopped at a sale that had advertised costume jewelry but the real jewel of the day was this amazing shabby cabinet that I found. I absolutely love, love, love the creamy white with the oh, so cool blue. I am also happy to say that I was able to get it at a fabulous price!
I feel like a treasure hunter!

Stormy Day

Nothing brightens a yucky day of thunderstorms like finding some of our Le Pink Chandelier shop items have been chosen for treasuries. If you get a chance, take a look at "Missing Shapes" and "Vintage Filled Home." Both treasuries have really wonderful Etsy items.
I had to get out in this nasty rain for a while today to run a few errands. Lucky for me I happened to find a few craft items to work with for the rest of the day and most of them were on sale!

A Few Fun Finds

Friday means garage sales for my schedule. I had zeroed in on two from our local paper that listed costume jewelry. Disappointed when the first seller decided to wait for tomorrow to open. argh! Off to sale number two. I had been to this location before so I knew the seller was usually not prepared and that was the case today. She was still unloading boxes and making up prices but she did have a few beaded necklaces out. I snagged the only one that truly was vintage. Hurray! I also found a box of old books and unpacked it myself. I limited myself to four nice old ones and three Little Golden Books. Must be the teacher in me....I love books!
Although the planned sales did not pan out for finding many treasures, I happened by a local school having a fund raiser type garage sale so I stopped in and got an inspiring craft book about shells and a sweet little Christmas pin signed Rona. I felt like balance was restored!

It's Time!

We are ready to enter the world of blogging!
"We" are a mother and daughter team who have combined our love of crafting and vintage to open a shop on Etsy, Le Pink Chandelier.
http://www.lepinkchandelier.etsy.com

Our Etsy shop experience has been so addicting that a second shop is in the works.. Keep watching our blog!

Still working on the details but once we get the hang of blogging we plan to have a special called "Feature Fridays". This will hopefully be a combination of fellow Etsian shops OR a specific product. Can't wait to give this a try!

One of the things my daughter loves to make is upcycled envelopes. She especially likes to use vintage maps for this craft and has made them in several different sizes. Currently she completed a custom order for her auntie for a set of Albuquerque business envelopes. Check them out.
